Merry Christmas! Here's a present for my readers☆

Hope everyone is having a nice Christmas eve/day depending on where you are in the world :D I decided to scan the entire Diamond Beauty catalog~ There's up close looks at what type of Diamond Lashes and makeup that popular magazine models use and can be very helpful if you still need to practice your makeup technique or just want to try out new styles!

A few images will be in the cut along with the zip to download the entire catalog (39 images)

I'm just a random who reads your blog I want to tell you that you seems to have the most positive outlook on life and kindest personality. You really inspire me to be confident in expanding my gyaru style. Where do you get this amazing confidence?

That is a very nice thing to say to me, so I thank you so much for it!
One of the things that I really believe in is to learn how to be comfortable in your own body and to get rid of negative influences around you. It took me a very long time to do it, but once I did it for myself I learned that I was much happier instead of just worrying about those types of things~ Also it helps to have positive influences that will help encourage you!
If there are people who are negative towards you, just prove them wrong! Take that negativity and turn it into a positive and then once you show them up you can show them how stupid they are! :D
Hope I could help you with some advice~

Outfits and Diamond Gal Circle's Holiday Hot Mess

I have been very bad about not taking outfit pictures the last month or so, especially since I had some really nice coordinates... one of the ones not included was featuring my Delyle Snoopy print dress T_T

Also a big shout out to Diamond for hosting the event at Royal T last night :D I was great meeting newer members of Diamond (since I've known Val and Michi for awhile) and especially meeting Dolly and Mei <3 They both have amazing style and are sweet girls who I hope to see around :D

I think your the most prettiest woman i have ever seen! My question is how do you deal with negative comments I can't handle them very well.what's your secret to this?

Thank you for the compliment! :)

I know it's hard to take negative comments, as I used to get offended by them when I did. But you know what? People always look for the worst in you (especially on communities like gal_secrets). You just have to know if people have the guts to post nasty things like that they're uglier on the inside and outside. Just move on from the negativity and prove the haters wrong.

In California we have a ton of free weekly/monthly magazines that are catered toward the Japanese population. I grabbed Weekly La La La when I went to Foo Foo Tei a few months ago and saw it was their 7th Anniversary and tons of prizes were given away if you did a survey for them! It was difficult for my grasp of Japanese but I did it and a few months later...

I won one of the shirts given away by Shibuya Closet, a local gyaru clothing store!

So thanks very much to them again, I don't win things often so I'm glad I got this :D

My Best Kept Secret: Japan to Door

I used to use another service that was exclusively for people who speak Japanese, but they kind of screwed me over. But my post isn't about that company, it's about Japan to Door! I'm not paid by them for anything, just a happy customer who has my needs fulfilled :)

I specifically use them for their Other Forwarding service, meaning that I handle all of the transactions myself and they act as my warehouse for receiving items. A big bonus is that they also allow transactions dealing with COD, meaning that there's pretty much no limitations to what sites you can buy from! I haven't used any of their other services so I cannot comment on those.

It was really important for me to be able to handle my own orders, so if there were sales on major sites I wouldn't have to worry about my items selling out. But in order to do this you need to have a basic understanding of Japanese! It is really important in the case that the stores you are buying from have delays or need you to confirm things, an example was that one of my egg shop orders was majorly delayed due to manufacturing issues in China. If you can't read or understand these types of things it'll be difficult for you to use this service.

So if you fit into the role of wanting to control your own orders, keep reading!

    How the service works:
    • Once you sign up with JTD they provide you an address to use for your items to be shipped to. It is really important to follow the steps in regards to the address, or else it might be cut off in orders and not shipped correctly to their warehouse.
    • You add funds to your account through Paypal, which is any amount you want to load into your account (for things like COD, service fees and shipping). I believe there is a small Paypal fee charged when adding funds to your account.
    • In order to make it more cost efficient, get everything you need at once! When you make orders you need to fill out one Other Forwarding service form where you can add multiple store orders as long as they're made within a 48 hour period. Also make sure you select the option for consolidation and repacking if you're receiving multiple orders at a time (it's an additional $16 for these services).
    • It is cheaper if you charge your items to a credit card, but COD is available with a 15% service fee. If you are using COD you must pay upfront or else they could possibly reject your order and send it back to the origin!
    • Once everything has arrived they will give you an invoice of charges and you have within 10 days to pay for everything to be shipped. The fees consist of shipping, handling, consolidation + repacking fee, invoice fee and taxes. It can get expensive overall, which is why I suggest doing multiple orders at once.
And here's an example of a fee breakdown (taken from one of my orders):
    • Ordered 12 used CDs from Amazon Japan Marketplace for approximately $5 each ($60) - all paid on my debit card.
    • Shipping fee: 3600yen converted to $42.25
    • Handling fee: $11.74
    • Consolidation + Repacking fee: $16
    • Japanese tax: $3.75
    • Total fees: $78.74, meaning each CD becomes about $11.50 which isn't bad considering they're very hard to find and originally retail for about 3015yen each.
So yes it can get more expensive than you originally expect, but overall it's not too bad! I recommend them 100%.

Stores I recommend on ordering from:

    Sunday, December 12, 2010

Hello! I was wondering where you ordered Diamond Lash from and how much did it cost + shipping? Thank you! :)

For the first series I get at Marukai (local Japanese supermarket by me) for $11. The others I used to buy off of Kirei Plaza but they stopped doing overseas shipping in the last few months :(
I buy them still from Kirei Plaza and Diamond Beauty's official site, but I use a shopping service (Japan to Door) which can get pretty pricey, about $100 for shipping of all my items when I do them in batches. The easiest option to use is Ichibankao which has some of the newest ones for 1700yen with shipping included. I have a few on sale on my blog as well under sales posts for $16 including shipping.

    So sorry guys!!

Finals are this week and I have been very busy working on final papers and studying for my tests. I really hate ignoring my blog since I love writing on here, plus on top of that I've been awful on taking outfit photos :(

I just wanted to stop by and say hi, and for the giveaway winners I will be mailing out your prizes this week!

Also feel free to ask me questions on my formspring, I just started that up again and I can answer quick questions on there if you guys have any for me :)

    Pictures from Monterey, CA

I went on this trip weeks ago but haven't gotten around to posting my photos from the area, but thought I should now! I stayed at the Cannery Row Inn for a steal at $69/night and just walked around Monterey without having to pay for parking :D If you found my blog by searching for information/reviews about the Inn, here it is:
    - The most important part to me was that it was affordable. Make sure you book online for the best rates, I've heard stories about them quoting different prices over the phone.
    - Very close to the main tourist attractions. Walk down the block and turn left and you're at Cannery Row! The aquarium is 3-4 blocks away.
    - Front desk people seem to talk very minimally but do the job.
    - Lots of tourist information at the front desk, you can also buy tickets to some of them at a discount from there as well.
    - Free breakfast in the morning is decent. It was nothing special (cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, etc) but can't complain if it's free!
    - Its by a major road, so traffic might be loud at some points. It didn't bother us too much.
    - Room is pretty decent, although we noticed that the space between the bottom of the door and the floor was kind of big (maybe about 1 or 2 inches off the ground?)
    - No air conditioning, but if you live by the beach you know it's not necessary. The fireplace and heater came in handy since it gets cold at night.
    - Bed is super comfortable! I believe they just redid these recently, and you get about 5 pillows if you're in a king bed.
    - Bathroom is large and toiletries are provided. Love how they shaped the towels in the shape of shells :D
    - Major problem: I don't know if it was just during my stay but the internet was very inconsistent. It would take a really long time in order for the login site to show up in order to start using it, and it would often go off and on throughout our stay. Although I guess I shouldn't complain too much, you're not on vacation to use the internet :P

If you love sea otters, there's lots of pictures of them in here :)

I hope everyone in the US had a fabulous Thanksgiving and Black Friday! I did and didn't at the same time, mostly because the screen on my phone is totally cracked. It still works but it's a sad thing to see :(

Eyelash review: Loujene Glamorous Full S #2/LJ つけまつげN02 グラマラス フルS

I'm going to review the Glamorous Full S #2 from Loujene's line of affordable cosmetics. Retails for 105yen in Japan and $1.50 at Ichibankan stores in California. I'm not sure where else their products are sold at, but if you've seen them please let me know! :) If you're interested in them you can purchase them on the company's Rakuten store here, but you need to use a shopping service for them. Most of their lashes are very gyaru-kei along with some of their other makeup products!

    Recent outfits

I haven't made a post about me in awhile, especially because during my trip to Monterey the internet was very inconsistent :( So I guess here's 2 outfits and a few other things~

ageha model names: Exclusive/Resident + Graduated models

I've noticed in my stats that there's been an influx of people here coming from Google searching up "ageha model names", so I guess I'll make a post about that ^^;; I'll break it up between resident + graduated models and models with their names in romaji, Japanese and blog address!

Featured models are in this post.

    Another quick check-in!

This project is kicking my butt but I thought I would make another quick stop by in my blog! I like posting daily but hard now with deadlines :'(

    After Friday I'll be off for the week and going up to NorCal for my 2nd anniversary vacation with Tony! I'm excited since I haven't been to SF in so long and need to go to Japantown and Daiso! I'll be staying in Monterey Bay though because I want to go to the aquarium and it's a shorter drive back home for us ^^;;

Since I'm almost already at 50 subscribers, I had to decide what was going to be the prizes for 50 and 75 already! To entice people on what's going to be in the next one to subscribe so I can start the giveaway, I'll tell you guys what the main prize in it is (there's also a few other small things in it):

So what are you waiting for? Tell your friends about this cool prize and that they need to subscribe! :D

    Tuesday, November 16, 2010

A quick update and check in!

As you guys will see in the next few days I'm just going to make small updates around the blog layout here and there. I have a really huge project due on Friday, so I'm going to be working mostly on that throughout the week.

I've been getting a big influx of followers in the last few days, probably because I was featured in Hana of Finding Tokyo's weekly wrap up? Many thanks to her for featuring me, and all the new followers I've gained from it!

I purchased two different brands of BB cream online (Korea's Missha and Japan's Nanoce), because a few people have had concerns about my skin. Thanks to those who did have concerns, and I hope that changing to BB cream will be beneficially for me! It did come at a good time too, I'm almost out of both of my foundations! I'll try to do reviews once they both arrive (for the Nanoce I have to pick it up in store since it's in Southern California) :]

Also just another little blurb about how I will do giveaways at 50, 75 and 100 followers! Remember how I said the prizes will start getting bigger? They are looking pretty nice so feel free to follow me and join in on the giveaways :D

    アイコレ: Eye Make Collection

Has anyone ever heard of this site before?

If you haven't, it's a very good resource to see different girls' daily eye makeup and get some inspiration! Luckily most of the eye makeup is gal styled, but there's also some V-kei and a few others featured.

What I like about this site is that the eye is the main focus and usually the girls will talk about what they wanted to get out of the look and also the products that were used. Most of the site is keyword based, and you can look at the sidebars or on the main page to see what is trending!

Here's a few pages you will all be interested in ranked by most popular:
    - Most recent
    - Most popular
    - Gal-style (a lot of model copycat looks)
    - Natural (for an everyday look)
    - Circle lenses
    - Without circle lenses
    * If you can't read Japanese, I recommend using Google Chrome for their built in translator or Yahoo! Japan翻訳 and select the 2nd option to translate Japanese to English.
    * You might have to sign up for the website to look at additional pages or pictures.

Also a big thanks to the girls who have entered my giveaway so far! Keep it coming :D

    Giveaway time!

Inspired by Sami (who also has a giveaway going on, you should enter it here!), I decided to start my giveaway early :P Remember that this is a small giveaway so I can promote my blog further, and that prizes with more followers will be much bigger. Planned in the future are giveaways featuring more makeup and 109 brand goods!

    What's in it:
    - 1 Large pink colored makeup mirror. It folds out for a hands-free mirror holding experience~
    - 1 Eyemazing #003 Eyemazing is Popteen model Jun Komori's line of eyelashes that are incredibly popular with gals. They are very sturdy and can last for a long time :)
    - 1 Eyemazing #202
    - 1 Small eyelash glue
What the Eyemazing lashes look like together:

    - Open worldwide, so I'll ship this to whoever wins it no matter where you live!
    - Please comment with your name, e-mail and blog link for 1 entry.
    - You'll get 1 extra entry if you advertise my giveaway on your blog, twitter, tumblr or wherever else :) Remember to mention in the comments where you promoted it!

    Deadline: December 1st 2010 5pm PST

I have been really neglecting to take outfit photos, so I only have 3 recent ones :'(

A gal trend I love: Recession proof makeup

Let me be honest. I hate a lot of the gal trends going on right now, especially all of the fur and nordic prints. I don't want to look like a furry, wear real fur OR look like I stole my grandma's sweaters! I don't mind if any of you do like these trends, but that's just my personal opinion.

However, I'm up for anything that is recession proof or as I'd like to call it "fru~gyaru" (lol see what I did there). Egg's December issue featured a spread called "Kawacheap Make", short for Kawaii Cheap Makeup. The spread shows that you can spend very little on makeup and still look fabulous!

    Disneyland's California Adventure: ElecTRONica

I'm working on another gal makeup post but I thought I would take a break from all the gal stuff and talk about/show pictures of the new attraction at California Adventure.
This new themed attraction was made in honor of Tron Legacy, the sequel to Tron which both are made by Disney Films. Featured in this attraction is 2 bars, a food truck serving snacks, movie theater screening a preview of Tron Legacy, Flynn's Arcade, an awesome laser show along with a DJ spinning for a dance floor/circle! If you want to go you should do it now, but make sure you go on the weekend because this attraction is only from Friday-Sunday except for Thanksgiving and Christmas weeks.
Awesome panoramic shot of ElecTRONica that Tony took. We got there right when it opened so it was still pretty empty.

    Let's talk future giveaways

I've almost reached the 25 follower mark which is great! Although I know there are a lot more people reading my blog than subscribed (I can see you in the stats! Yeah, you!!) so if you're not following me already make sure you are!

The more followers, the bigger the prizes!

Here's a few things you can expect from the first giveaway:
    - Something pink
    - Cosmetic related
    - All Japanese items

So get to it! Tell your friends! Do what you want, but get me to 25 followers and I'll open it!

Diamond Lash review: Celeb x Charming eyes + Beauty x Baby eyes

In this post I introduced the new Diamond Beauty items that I got, and here I will review 2 sets of lashes on each of my eyes~ Also I'm wearing my circle lenses in these photos so let me know what you think of them :D

    Diamond Beauty gets!

My package has finally arrived to my house and I can show you guys what I got! I haven't done a review yet because I'm too excited to show you guys these, but I will do it in the near future :)

    Monday, November 8, 2010

    Thank you, Sara Mari!

If you haven't checked Sara Mari's newest post on Moments like Diamonds, she posted her updated link page. and I'm on it under Personal for the American region! Make sure to check out the link page as well to see other wonderful blogs :D

Also in other news I went to Mitsuwa today for lunch and swung by Sanseido to see if they had the December issues of the gal magazines. Indeed they did!
I grabbed Popteen, ageha, PopSister and egg this month!

Remember that once I hit 25 followers I will have a giveaway :D and I'll be posting some reviews/information about the new Diamond Lash/Beauty products in the future~

Grill 'Em All vs. Baby's Badass Burgers

If you watch Travel Channel and are a fan of the show Food Wars, then you might have seen these 2 trucks in the LA Food Truck episode.

I've had Grill 'Em All before when they were at the Hurley office in Costa Mesa 2 months ago, and I finally got to try out Baby's Badass Burgers over the weekend at Cartchella in Costa Mesa

PopSister: Dressing Mode with Military, Nordic, Rock and British styles with H&M

The November issue of PopSister included a photoshoot of their models wearing H&M clothes and accessories. I know there's a big debate in the Western gal community of either you wear 109 brands or you don't. Let's bust that myth by showing you JAPANESE GYARU MODELS wearing H&M in a fashionable, gyaru mode-kei way that's affordable.

    New layout!

I got tired of using the Blogger template background and settings so I made my own background. Nothing special, but it will suffice for now :D

    First pair of circle lenses!

First I'll start off with something not on the title topic, but today is Tony and I's 2 year anniversary together! We can't really have much fun since we're both busy with school work but we have an awesome Saturday and Sunday planned :D

I was kind of against circle lenses before, until I tried out Sakurina's purikura machine at Round 1 about a month ago. On her machine you can change your hair color or add circle lenses on, and this is how it looked:
Needless to say, I was convinced of how good they looked from them on. I went out to go get a prescription for them and found out I have an astigmatism! I am still a newbie to contacts in general, and it's especially harder for me to get circle lenses because of it T_T

Nicole Abe's new line of eyelashes + using NYX cosmetics for a gal look!

Ranzuki's Nicole Abe released a line of eyelashes called "Princess Tiara" last month which include 3 sets of eyelashes plus 1 set of accent lashes. If you're curious about buying them, you can purchase them here (but you need to use a shopping service). But what I liked about this spread was that they included how to do her gal makeup using NYX Cosmetics, an affordable brand that is very comparable to MAC Cosmetics.

Ecco in Costa Mesa, CA + Foo Foo Tei in Hacienda Heights, CA

Another food post, but I promise I've been working on gal-related posts and will be released in the future! Although I will be pretty busy with school soon (tests from Thursday-Tuesday) :/

    Get better, Demi Lovato :'(

If you guys don't know, I'm a HUGE Disney Channel music geek! So I really love stuff by the Jonas Brothers, Miley, etc but no one compares to my baby girl, Demi Lovato!

My first time doing "custom eyelashes"

Yeah I'll be doing a lot of posts about fake eyelashes, but I hope no one cares :P

There's been a big boom within the gyaru fashion magazines about making "custom lashes", which is basically putting pieces and parts of different lashes to make their own custom look. It's a great way to use lashes if they're on the verge of being thrown away or just to get creative!

Cooking, The Lime Truck & Blackmarket Bakery + Marion Crepes @ Mitsuwa's Fall Gourmet Festival

My microwave at my house broke over 2 weeks ago, and the people who were supposed to fix it flaked on us and finally came on Friday (yesterday) and told us we needed a new one. Gee thanks for being obvious! So now it's going to take LONGER for them to come because of the weekend. T_T

I've been eating out too much so on Thursday I made myself probably the easiest thing without the use of a microwave, Spaghetti.
My favorite Spaghetti sauce, which I buy from Mitsuwa for about $2-3. It's the perfect portion for 2 people :)

Opinion: Why I'm not a fan of Gyaru models

This is kind of going to be a mix of personal experience and my opinions. I'm going to throw in some old pictures from 2006 because that's what I have offhand. Let's get started, shall we?

What you may not know about me is that when I used to go to Japan often, I was part of the big ParaPara community. I was even in a Gazen ParaPara!! video before, and that means I got to work with Rumiringo. Yes, the one you all know and love.

Past the 10 follower mark, woo!

I didn't really advertise the blog too much but I'm happy to say that I'm at over 10 followers :D I've been really busy with school this past week so I haven't had too much time to do stuff, but I've been planning some more posts in the near future! Here's what to look for:

    • Yes, you can be gyaru and wear cheap Western brands.
    • Daily makeup routine: Putting on my face in 10 minutes INCLUDING falsies
    • Fake Eyelashes comparison/reviews.
    • New purchases
    • More sales posts (mostly 109 brand stuff)
    • Giveaway once I hit at least 25 followers! I've already planned a few giveaways so expect them every next 25 or so followers~
Also to anyone who is in Southern California near a Mitsuwa Marketplace, their Autumn Food Festival that I talked about in a previous post is starting TODAY! I'm going with my boyfriend for lunch and will probably make a post about it later (depending if I'm going to an extra credit event for school or not). The Autumn Food Festival will be at the other Mitsuwa locations next week.

ageha Model's Selection: Top 3 upper and bottom lashes

I guess I would call myself a "fake eyelash otaku", and I was so giddy when this article was in November's issue of ageha. Since I know a lot of people don't have the new issue yet or can't read Japanese, I will put the contents in here and show you where you can buy them!

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights + Devil's Night Drive-In

Friday I went to Universal Studio's Halloween Horror Nights and on Saturday I had to cancel going to the Diamond Gals Gal-loween party because I had prior family commitments to go to the Devil's Night Drive-In with my boyfriend and his mom. I was really bummed about it especially because I wanted to do the raffle (I love Dolly Wink's stuff but would never pay for it since it costs so much!), but I'll just make it up to the girls another time.

Mitsuwa, some gets and Spirit day

I've had a tiring day and my cellphone has really sucked! After returning home from my first class I took a nap, only to wake up to see my phone frozen and only had about 5 minutes to leave my house to go back to school. It was my Biology lab and luckily he gave us the option to leave once he explained what the assignment was. I left early because I hadn't eaten and could barely concentrate, so I headed to Mitsuwa in Costa Mesa, CA for some food.

Plus Sized Gal: My Story + Buying Japanese clothes

It always pains me to see all the negativity about weight in the gal community. Myself and other bigger gals have been posted and ridiculed for being ourselves. :( But you know what? Fuck the haters! Or for those who don't understand, I'd like to take this time to start with my personal story and also showing that it's possible for bigger gals to wear Japanese clothes! Warning, this is a long one. Any questions or comments about this post, feel free to reply~

    Knott's Scary Farm 10/15/10

I went to Knott's Scary Farm with some friends yesterday, and this is how I looked! I forgot to take an outfit pic though :( Makeup information:
    Primer: Smashbox
    Makeup setter: Urban Decay
    Foundation, Concealer & Powder: Clinique
Eyeshadow, Mascara, Blush & Lipstick: Sephora
    Eyeliner (liquid): Maybelline
    Eyeliner (white pencil): NYX
Eyelashes: Diamond Lashes (Glamorous on top, Lovely on bottom)
The only okay picture I got of my hair. I just added a little volume on top and wore my hair straight.

Hey! My name is Dominique, but you can call me D~tan :) I'm a 21 year old girl and I go to school at CUI (Concordia University Irvine). I'm interested in a lot of things, mainly dancing ParaPara/TechPara, gyaru fashion, traveling, finding interesting places to eat around OC and photographing concerts. I'm in a relationship with Tony, who is amazing and we love each other very much! We've been together since 11/04/08 (Election day! I voted for Obama~), so that means we've been together for about 2 years. I originally started this blog recording some stuff I cooked, but I got busy once I started school and almost have little to no time to cook now :'(
